It was FINALLY nice out this weekend, so I took the time to make a quick trip to the beach (one of the luxuries of living near the water). It was spur of the moment and I wasn’t swimming or laying out, so I didn’t need to bring a lot of stuff– so I just threw a book and my sunglasses in the promotional drawstring backpack I got from my university and headed down the block. It was perfect for holding everything I needed for an hour sitting down at the beach– and certainly looked more at home in the sand than my friend’s purse. I still probably should have thrown in some sunscreen though– even only I was only there for about an hour, I still got a sunburn!

This promotional paper bag was given out in Germany (I’d assume in grocery stores) to raise awareness about how to donate to help underprivledged children. Not only does it promote a good cause, but it’s eco friendly– at least in the old sense of the word, in that it’s paper instead of plastic. If you’re interested in guerrilla marketing like this, you can read more about it here.

As I mentioned previously, I am still looking for a custom laptop sleeve for my vacation. Everyone I’ve spoken to has advocated on getting a computer bag instead, but that won’t really work for me. I’m going to be gone for a long time, and I’m bringing a lot of stuff, so I’ll be able to fit a lot more in my carry-on if I can just slide my netbook into whatever backpack or messenger bag I decide to use as a carry-on instead of dedicating a whole bag to my computer. Considerations like these are important to think about when trying to find the right bags for traveling!

This is a really cool promotional shopping bag! With the advent and popularity of reusable shopping totes, plastic bags need to be creative like this one if they’re going to remain relavent. Of course, for the environment’s sake, lets hope not too many other brands catch on.

People think of bags as mainly a women’s accessory, but that’s simply not the case. In fact, for Fathers’ Day I’m planning on getting my Dad a custom tote bag. He goes out on his boat a lot, and he’ll spend all day out there fishing so he ends up bringing a lot of food and drinks. Something like a cooler bag would be useful, and then I can stuff it with all of his favorite snacks. Golf bags and gym bags also make great gifts for Dads with other interests– and are proof that bags make fabulous gifts for Fathers’ Day!
